Two women are robbed after burglars enter their home
A gang of four stole gold jewelry worth Rs 19 lakh from a house in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, after infiltrating the property while its occupants – two women – were busy watching a television series. Police have launched a hunt to catch the suspects, reported India time.
According to the report, the house is owned by a Meganathan, who is an auditor by profession, and his brother, who is a civil servant. The crime happened Thursday night when Meganathan’s wife was in the house with her cousin.
The two women did not lock the main door and began to watch a television series at an extremely loud volume. Meanwhile, masked men infiltrated the property. The intruders subsequently tied the women up at a knife threat and demanded almirah keys from them. They looted gold jewelry weighing 50 rulers.
Police have launched efforts to catch the suspects. CCTV footage revealed that the accused arrived at the house on a motorcycle. As two stood guard outside the door, the other two snuck inside and executed the robbery.
In another incident, an ATM containing over Rs 8 lakh was stolen in the village of Kheria in Agra, Uttar Pradesh in the wee hours of Friday. Three police personnel were suspended due to the incident.
The ATM, owned by Tata Indicash, was installed on Fatehabad Road nine years ago. A group of five men – who were wearing masks – stole it around 2:40 a.m. Friday. It contained a total of Rs 8.20 lakh. After the discovery of the crime, SSP Sudhir Kumar Singh suspended Rohit Kumar, head of Tora police, and agents Kuldeep and Santosh Kumar for alleged negligence in their duties.
