Rivers Varsity expels college student for murdering graduating student

Authorities at Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworokwo, Port Harcourt expelled 300-level student Suanu Wisdom Nwiyara for the alleged murder of the institution’s final year student Osundu Chimela.
It was then that suspected armed robbers, dressed in police uniforms, attacked an automated teller machine (ATM) parked at a branch of a new generation bank located in the car park of Rivers State University. .
Nwiyara, suspected of being a cultist, allegedly shot Osundu on August 19, 2021, while sitting in front of the University’s Faculty of Management Sciences.
The suspect, a 300-level architectural science student at the same institution as the deceased, was arrested by police as he tried to escape after allegedly killing Chimel, who allegedly hid a gun in his panties before being shot.
RSU, in a statement signed by its clerk, Dr Sydney Enyinda, said the decision to deport Nwiyaara was necessary because the institution has zero tolerance for worship and all forms of violence, especially on its premises.
Meanwhile, an ATM parked at a branch of a new generation university bank was reportedly broken into and emptied by unknown gunmen in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Thieves, who eyewitnesses were dressed in police uniforms, stormed the campus around 3:00 a.m. after ordering school security guards to open the university’s main gate.
On their way to the car park where the bank is located, they tied up the bank security guard and a few drivers sleeping in their minibuses.
LEADERSHIP understood that the thieves went about their business unchallenged, completely emptied the contents of the ATM and fled in one of the minibuses.
