Obituary of Marilyn Sproule (1952 – 2021) – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
On October 12, 2021, Marilyn M. Sproule, 69, of McCandless Township, beloved wife of Robert Sproule for 47 years, passed away peacefully. She is also survived by her brothers, George (Ann) Moellenbrock Jr. and James E. (Judy) Moellenbrock; Beloved aunt of George (Claire) Moellenbrock III, Bonny (Michael Lowry) Moellenbrock, Jennifer (David) Stoner, Jill (Ryan) Richards and many nieces and nephews on Bob’s side. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents George and Elizabeth Moellenbrock; After graduating from Robert Morris College in 1973, Marilyn began a career in the banking and financial services industry which took her from cashier at Mellon Bank NA to vice-president for the Money Access Card ATM network ( MAC) and its successor companies. . She was instrumental in implementing the first ATM network at Union National Bank in Pittsburgh. Her career also included a stint as a financial services consultant for the Arthur Young company. Upon their retirement in the late 2000s, Marilyn and Bob experienced many travel adventures. These included numerous trips to his beloved Outer Banks of North Carolina with various Moellenbrocks, Stoners, Richards, and Lowrys. Their 40th anniversary trip to Hawaii was special for both Marilyn and Bob, as were their travel adventures with their friends Dan and Susan Bonk to Disney World, Las Vegas, France, Great Britain and Ireland. Apart from Bob, no one was more special to Marilyn than all of her nieces and nephews over several generations. Space limits prohibit listing them all, but they know who they are. Bob would also like to thank the staff and volunteers at Highmark Caring Place in Warrendale, PA where Marilyn has volunteered for 12 years. They were and continue to be a special family to her and Bob. The family would like to thank Dr Casey Moffa and all the wonderful caregivers at AHN Cancer Center in Wexford, PA, as well as the caring staff at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. There are truly angels on this earth. Friends received on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Simons Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Highway. The Christian Burial Mass will be held Monday at 11:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Highmark Caring Place or St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis, TN.
