Market Weighton LTC’s new clubhouse set to be built after £ 55,130 has been awarded by the FCC Communities foundation
The FCC Communities Foundation awarded the club £ 55,130.00, allowing the project to move forward.
The money will be used to build a modern clubhouse with a large common area and changing rooms that will benefit both club members, adults and children in Market Weighton and the surrounding villages.
It is hoped that the new clubhouse will be ready for action in the spring of next year.
Tennis Club President Judy Copeland said: “It will make a huge difference in how we can develop the opportunity for children and adults of all ages to get involved in the game of tennis and to play tennis. to ensure the longevity of the club which is now in its 100th year.
“During the pandemic, the club saw many more people playing sports not only for physical gain, but also for the social benefit of interacting with others and being part of a community.
“It’s fantastic that the FCC Communities Foundation has given us this money and we look forward to the new pavilion taking shape over the next six months.
The FCC Communities Foundation is a non-profit company that provides grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
