Caricom-Mercosur Chamber to participate in WHO forum on post-covid-19 trade
The World Trade Organization (WTO) has invited the CARICOM-MERCOSUR Interregional Business Council (CCICaMe) to participate in the 2021 Public Forum âTrade after Covid-19: Building Resilienceâ, which will be held at its headquarters in Geneva, in Switzerland it was announced.
CCICaMe CEO Nelson Simatovich highlighted the role of the WTO as the only international organization that deals with the rules that govern trade between countries through the WTO agreements, which have been negotiated and signed by most countries, to ensure that trade takes place in the most fluid, predictable and free manner possible.
Simatovich, a recognized expert in corporate governance, concerted administration and institutional transparency, explained that CCICaMe also admitted that contacts are underway with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to assess the impacts on Latin America. and the post-pandemic Caribbean. crisis and possible exit routes.
He also announced that negotiations were underway with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) given the destruction of the productive and social fabric in developing countries, where the reconstruction of the meager existing pre-pandemic levels. should take decades.
